Matsutake mushrooms are highly prized in Japan as a luxury ingredient due to their exquisite aroma. However, as of 2025, artificial cultivation has yet to be commercialized. This piece envisions a world where a robot, Android M, has been created to cultivate matsutake mushrooms—and depicts the neon sign that illuminates this futuristic world.
