Both robots and mushrooms vanish, leaving the planet barren and the conflict unresolved. But is that really the end? The second work reflects my personal fascination with the inner workings of machines. I feel the greatest sense of human progress and technology when I can see what’s beneath the surface. While the figure may appear grotesque at first glance, I don’t see it as something to be pitied. Even in an irreversible form, there is beauty. Mycorrhizal symbiosis by SH11NA

Saprotrophic fungi decompose organic matter such as dead plants and animals to absorb nutrients. Mycorrhizal fungi, on the other hand, form symbiotic relationships—offering nutrients they gather through their mycelium to host plants, while receiving sugars produced through photosynthesis in return. As a cautionary tale, consider how Alfred Nobel’s invention of dynamite was used more for war than for construction. This reminds us that the advancement of technology always comes with the responsibility of how it’s used. With modern machinery, even the ancient wisdom of fungi and mushrooms could potentially be manipulated for self-serving purposes.
